Places Applet

Haven't been feeling like thinking overly much in the last couple days... so I've done some copy and pasting of cairo-menu code to create a stand-alone places applet. Not really my thing but I see that there is a bit of demand for one.
[Q]

It has been pushed into my own branch. It will probably go into trunk within a day or two.
[Q]

It's functional but not configurable yet. Once I fill in the configuration side of things and getting it to default to gtk theme I'll push it into trunk.
[Q]

For those who enjoy checking things out early... my branch can be found in my sig.

I've pushed a copy into trunk. It is not feature complete and it does not have a prefs dialog yet. But it is functional.

I would also like to point out that this applet is largely ready for desktop-agnostic once applets are functional in the branch. Courtesy of malept.

I've been spending a lot of time arguing with my major revision of cairo-menu (and it doesn't always seem that I"m winning) but I got around to adding a prefs dialog to Places. It's been pushed to both my branch and to trunk.

hmmm...
looks like there is an issue with the schema file.
[Q]

Please hold off installing until it is fixed.

Resolved the schema file issue. You may find you need to restart gconfd (or restart X if you prefer) before the applet will start up.

Yeah... Not sure how I'm going to deal with that yet. I'm actually using the standard awn dialog here but I may need to replace it with my own window again as I've done in cairo-menu.

Are you using Nautilus? Thunar does not seem to exhibit this behaviour.

I didn't read what you wrote properly. Thunar does the same thing. I was thinking it was on the renaming of shortcuts that his was happening.
[Q]

I'll urldecode it I guess.

it would be cool to have a places applet that looked like the stacks applet.

Could be done. Don't think it would be a lot of work... but I could be wrong.
