
I sometimes found it somewhat awkward when opening the file browser in Ubuntu, so I decided to make an applet to fix that.
By default, the applet shows a dialog with your home path and an "open" button. Click the button or hit enter and nautilus will open that directory. Also by default, middle-clicking the applet will open your home folder without displaying the dialog.
Right-click it and select Preferences to change the icon, the file browser, and what to do when left-clicked and middle-clicked, including changing what directory to display or open. The preferences menu also checks to see if you have Thunar, Konqueror, and/or Dolphin installed, and includes them as options.
