As you can see from my screenshot... (Ubuntu Gutsy Alpha 5)

I like having my AWN above a bottom panel. However, when the bottom panel is clicked, AWN goes behind it. Is there a "Keep Above" option that I've overlooked, is there a way of forcing it above everything else in Compiz-Fusion, or will a patch be needed to be written to solve my little problem?

what version of awn do you have? Does it stay underneath maximized windows *on the desktop* but pop out when you touch the bottom of the screen?

Latest SVN (from bzr). It stays above maximised windows fine, it just doesn't stay above gnome-panel once gnome-panel has been clicked.

There's no real fix, but there is a workaround. Go into gconf, applications > avant-window-navigator, one of the keys (maybe in one of the subfolder, just look around in the a-w-n dir) is screen_height. Change that to [height of screen in pixels] - [height of bottom panel in pixels]. Usually, you'd subtract 24 from whatever is already there.

Generally, though, it is recomended that you eliminate the bottom gnome-panel or put it on top.
